Description

Job Summary:

This position will provide support to the Material Handling Manager by coordinating all inventory assignments and projects, and help provide a smooth flow of materials from the supplier through delivery to our customers. This will include communication with internal and external customers and Materials team members, and work closely with manufacturing teams to provide level schedules to meet customer demands. This position will lead monthly inventory counts, assist in implementing a cycle counting process, implement production material flow improvements, and work with suppliers to create continuous replenishment opportunities in production areas.

 

The primary duties will be to:

  • Implement and maintain cycle count process, perform physical inventory counts, track and report inventory accuracy, and reconcile inventory issues daily.

  • Perform thorough research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions.

  • Work with key personnel to effectively implement process improvements to operational procedures to proactively optimize overall location and item level accuracy.

  • Improve flow of production materials within the plant by implementing supermarkets, Kanban systems, and other continuous replenishment processes.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor all key functions related to inventory transactions to assure that they are accurate and timely.

  • Perform inventory transactions in ERP system to track inventory movement and increase accuracy.

  • Monitor customer portals and communicate demand changes, inventory discrepancies, production calendars, customer communications, and supplier scorecard.

  • Work closely with Quality to coordinate incoming material inspection, sampling, and release of materials.

  • Create a four week production schedule for Pack Plant to support customer demand. Update and communicate changes daily. Communicate capacity and/or inventory shortages to appropriate areas.

  • Communicate scheduling and delivery issues to customers and work with sales planning team to reconcile.

  • Provide solutions to inventory storage capacity issues, including warehouse layout improvements, offsite warehousing, vendor managed inventory, and planning for future onsite warehouse growth opportunities.

  • Other duties, as assigned by Materials Manager.

Required Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience

  • 4 to 8 years related experience in Supply Chain related field, with emphasis on Scheduling, Planning, and Inventory Control functions.

  • Preferred candidate will have manufacturing experience, including the ability to make decisions in a fast paced manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to interface in a professional manner with customers, vendors and service providers

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a professional/positive attitude

  • Well-Organized with excellent attention to detail, and be able to multitask on several projects at the same time

  • Problem solving, analytical and time management abilities
