LG Chem Michigan Inc. has 100 open positions for Technical Operators to produce Li-ion batteries at our new plant in Holland, MI.  Technical operators will work with automated equipment to complete various steps in the production process including: separator coating process, assembly of the battery cell, testing, quality control and packaging for shipment.

LG Chem Michigan Inc. (“LGCMI”) develops and manufactures large lithium ion polymer batteries for electric vehicle (EV) applications.  LGCMI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of LG Chem, a S. Salary:  Starting pay from $12.50 to $14.00 depending on experience

Job Description:

The Technical Operator will use equipment and computerized systems to produce, evaluate, process and package lithium-ion batteries.  May include mixing of raw materials and computer controlled operation of multiple equipment types such as: micro-layer coating, cutting, assembly, notching, folding, drying, charge/discharge, and packaging.  Conduct quality checks, trouble-shooting, and basic equipment maintenance throughout the production process, collect qualifying products and package for shipment.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and uphold quality specification for each product
  • Set up equipment correctly for assigned product models
  • Verify correct alignment and flow of product during operation
  • Regularly conduct a visual inspection for the correct appearance of product
  • Check materials to ensure they match the prescribed formula
  • Monitor mixing process to meet the desired mixing grade
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to ensure the team meets or exceeds expectations
  • Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment
  • Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity
  •  Monitor data from measuring devices
  • Check product and production process for its desired quality to specifications
  • Monitor HVAC and room conditions for optimal production
  • Other tasks as assigned

Work Context:

Requires work in clean room environment. Required to wear proper PPE, Clean room suit and other gear during operation. May require work in Control room for consistent monitoring of equipment’s normal activity.

Years of Experience:  

Preferably experience in a clean-room production environment working with automated equipment


High School diploma or GED required (a 2 or 3 year technical degree or certificate is preferred, not required)

Additional information:  

Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift; Ability to satisfy written and manual dexterity pre-employment tests; possess some computer skills
